ABILENE, Texas - The East Texas Baptist University women's soccer team would manage a 0-0 tie in 120 minutes of action against McMurry University. This puts ETBU's overall record at 5-2-2 and their American Southwest Conference record at 1-1-1.
Raegan Kappler had a team-high three shots while
Kayla Nichols (shot on goal) and
Aaliyah Casas (shot on goal) each had two shots.
Olivia Gallegos,
Grace Freeman, and
Taylor Duran would also have a shot on goal.
Claire Montondon recorded six saves in goal for ETBU.
The first half was pretty even although ETBU had six of the 10 total shots between the two teams. ETBU had three chances to score in the fifth, sixth, and 25th minutes of the half with no luck. In the second half, McM took four of the six shots including go ahead chances in the 89th minute. ETBU was held to just two shots and the contest went into overtime.
ETBU had a golden chance to win in the first overtime, but the shot was saved. The second overtime did have three chances from either side with McM nearly winning it in the final minute. When all was said and done, the score still remained scoreless by the end of the game.
ETBU now turns their attention to Hardin-Simmons University at 1:00 PM this Sunday.
