MARSHALL, Texas – In dramatic fashion, the East Texas Baptist University men's soccer team knocked off the reigning American Southwest Conference champions the University of the Ozarks, 2-1. ETBU is now 2-8-2 and 1-4-1 in the ASC.
Isaiah Simien was the star of the night netting both goals with the biggest in the 88
th minute. He put ETBU ahead, 2-1, as
Garrett Garvin fed him the ball for the game winning shot. Simien netted the first goal of the game at the 44:22 mark just before halftime to shock the Eagles, 1-0. Ozarks did tie the game in the 71
st minute at one but it was Simien's magic that ended the game for the win.
ETBU took 10 shots with five on goal and Ozarks had 17 shots with only six on goal.
Gunner Barry recorded three saves. Overall, Simien took six shots with three on goal producing two goals.
Garrett Garvin had both assists on the goals.
Bruno Palmieri added two shots on goal.
ETBU will host the University of Texas Dallas at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday at Cornish Field.
