JACKSON, Miss. –A 16-0 run in the first half put East Texas Baptist University in command as they went onto a 75-60 win over Huntingdon College for the Millsaps College Snyder Classic Championship. ETBU is now 2-1 on the year.
Three players scored in double figures as
Darry Moore led with a career-high 22 points making all four free throws.
Charlie Cochran added 18 points while
Chris Haynes had a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Damien Madison led Huntingdon with 18 points.
ETBU made 46% from the floor, 30% from the arc, and 69% from the line. Huntingdon was held to 37% shooting, 30% from the three-point line, and made 83% from the stripe. ETBU out rebounded Huntingdon, 41-23, and forced 17 turnovers with 11 steals.
The first five minutes of the game went back-and-forth as both teams held little leads. Tied at 10 with 15:34 to go, ETBU broke open the game on a 16-0 run over five minutes for a 26-10 lead. Cochran started it with a three-pointer and had eight of the 16 points in the run.

Kevin Charles all had points in the run.
Huntingdon responded with their own run, 19-8, to pull within five points, 34-29, with 5:02 left in the half. They were then within three, 39-36, with 1:02 remaining but Cochran made a three-pointer with 50 seconds left to go into the half leading, 42-36.

ETBU opened the second half on a 9-2 run for a 13-point lead, 51-38, over four minutes. Moore had six of the nine points in the run with Haynes also adding a bucket. By the 12:29 mark, Huntingdon was within seven, 54-47, but they would not score for five minutes as ETBU improved their lead to 14 points, 63-49, with another 9-2 run. Moore made two free throws with 2:53 left pushing ETBU's lead to 21 points, 72-51, as they held onto the lead for the win, 75-60, in the final two minutes.
