#TIGERSWIN | @ETBU_WS Nets Four Goals in Shutout Win Over LETU

MARSHALL, Texas - Tallying two goals in each half, the East Texas Baptist University women's soccer team produced a four-goal night against LeTourneau University at Maverick Stadium. ETBU is now 4-0 and 2-0 in the American Southwest Conference.

Amy Pineda would lead the Tigers with eight shots in total while Raegan Kappler, Ashleigh Rondon, Olivia Gallegos, and Riley Broughton would each have a goal. Brianna Mickshaw recorded the lone assist on one of the goals. Claire Montondon (68 minutes, one save) and Megan McCarthy (22 minutes) paired up to get the shutout.

ETBU would get the first shot of the game after a minute and a half while it was the 11th minute before LETU had their first shot of the game. After missing several chances to score, the Tigers would get on the board in the 23rd minute as Mickshaw connected with Broughton for a 1-0 lead. That would give ETBU the drive to score more as they would fire nine shots over the next 16 minutes. The 10th shot became a goal that belonged to Gallegos, who found the net putting ETBU up, 2-0.

Just 11 minutes into the second half, Rondon would make it 3-0 for the Tigers. This would mark the fourth straight game against LETU that Rondon scored a goal. The Yellow Jackets were held to four shots the entire game. Their best chance to score would come in the 59th minute as Montondon went to her left to deny LETU's first goal. Two minutes later, Kappler sealed ETBU's win with her first goal of the season. ETBU would use their defense to keep the shutout intact for the remainder of the contest.

ETBU will be back at Cornish Field next Saturday when they host Belhaven University at 5:00 PM.
