BROWNWOOD, Texas - Finally getting to play in the 2021 season, the East Texas Baptist University women's tennis team emerged victorious with a 9-0 sweep over Howard Payne University. This is the fourth straight season ETBU started 1-0.

Two of ETBU's three doubles wins would be blowouts as Elisa Kendall and Maddi Davis took the No. 1 Singles 8-2 while Kelsey Roberts and Faith Kirk blanked their opponents 8-0 at No 3 Singles. Ashley Schenck and Cassidy Wilcoxson would have the closest doubles match at No. 2 with an 8-6 victory.

ETBU then added six more wins all in singles matches ending in two sets. Kendall (No. 1; 6-3, 6-1), Schenck (No. 2; 6-4, 6-2), Roberts (No. 3; 6-1, 6-2), and Kirk (No. 5; 6-0, 6-2) picked up their second wins on the day. Syvoney Ibarra (6-0, 6-1) and Kylee Mixon (6-1, 6-4) would record victories at No. 4 and No. 6 singles respectively.

The Tigers will play McMurry University on Saturday in Abilene, Texas, at 11:00 AM.
