Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Late Second Half Goals Hand @ETBU_Soccer First ASC Loss

CLARKSVILLE, Ark. - Despite holding strong for most of the match, the East Texas Baptist University men's soccer team was unable to respond to two late second half goals by the University of Ozarks, who prevailed 2-0. ETBU is currently 3-2-1 overall and 3-1-1 in the American Southwest Conference East Division.

The Tigers would only take four shots as Juan Cairo, Isaiah Simien, Zachary Thorsen, and Dominic Wood all had a shot on goal. Cristian Hernandez would be in goal for all 90 minutes making three saves and allowing two goals. Charlues Emmanuel Ritch and Alain Claude would each have a goal for the Eagles.

The first half would start going 10 minutes without a shot attempt. The Tiger would get their first chance to score in the 11th minute only for the shot to go wide. UO would have two chances that also missed the net in the next 10 minutes. After 20 more minutes, which saw ETBU have a chance to score on corner kick, both goalkeepers would make a save in the final five minutes to keep it scoreless at the half.

When the second half started, the Eagles would try to strike early with shots in the 58th and 60th minutes, which were both saved by Hernandez. ETBU would then pick up two shots in the 65th and 67th minute, with the latter being saved. The Eagles would break through the deadlock with a penalty kick goal in the 79th minute. Another four minutes passed before the Eagles sealed the win with their second goal.

ETBU will head back home for next Saturday's contest at 7:30 PM where they will take on the University of Texas Dallas.
