MARSHALL, Texas - Facing off against the University of Texas Dallas on senior night, the East Texas Baptist University men's team would end up falling 1-0 to the Comets. ETBU is now 3-3-1 overall and 3-2 in the American Southwest Conference.
The Tigers were held to three shots the entire match as
Garrett Garvin recorded two while
Juan Cairo added the third. The Comets fired 19 shots, eight of them were on goal and Gunnar Barry finished with seven saves. UTD goalkeeper Trey Nickel finished with two saves for the night.
The first half would see the Comets fire eight shots in total while Barry recorded four saves, including the first one in the second minute. ETBU would get their first shot attempt in the 12th minute, which was saved by Nickel. The Tigers got another chance in the 45th minute, which resulted in a save as the half ended scoreless.
On the second shot of the second half, the Comets got the lone goal of the game in the 49th minute. They would add just nine more shots with Barry stopping three of them for saves. The Comets defense would hold ETBU to just one shot in the 62nd minute. Despite their best efforts, the Tigers would not find the net as UTD preserved their 1-0 victory.
ETBU is on the road this Tuesday night to play the Blazers of Belhaven at 7:30 PM.
