MARSHALL, Texas - The hot bats of Texas Lutheran University proved to be too much for the East Texas Baptist University baseball team as they dropped game one of the series, 19-4. ETBU is now 7-5 overall.
 
Jake Miller would lead ETBU in both hits (two) and RBI (three), which included his fourth home run of the season. Colson Sledge would also drive in a RBI. Taking the loss was Blake Corbin, who lasted three innings allowing six runs on eight hits and striking out four batters.
 
After a scoreless first inning, TLU's offense would scratch two runs in both the second and third innings to lead 4-0. ETBU got one run back in the bottom of the third with a RBI single from Sledge. Yet, TLU would tack on two more runs in the next two innings to make it 8-1. 
 
Miller cut the lead in half with a three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning making it, 8-4. That is as close as ETBU would come in the game. The next two innings would see the Bulldogs go off for 11 runs, including eight in the seventh inning. 
 
Saturday's doubleheader will start at 1:00 PM.
