MARSHALL, Texas – Earning their first home win of the year, the East Texas Baptist University men's tennis team held off Austin College, 7-2, for their second win of the year. ETBU was up 2-1 after doubles and then took five of six matches in singles play.
John Herr and
Joseph Salinas opened the match with a win at #1 doubles, 8-6, over Brett O'Brien and Perston Spivey.
Christian Dubec and
Adam Morris then won the #3 doubles match, 8-2, for the 2-1 lead over William Dixon and Matthew Cochran.
Salinas came away with a tie breaking win in #1 singles with a 2-6, 6-1, 10-8 win over O'Brien for the third point of the match. Herr won the #2 singles match, 6-1, 6-0, over Spivey and Morris took the #3 match, 6-2, 6-0.
Randal Lemmon won the #5 match, 6-2, 6-1, for the sixth point of the match and then
Dalton Barron finished off with a 6-0, 6-3 win at #6 singles over Simonin.
ETBU will host Howard Payne University at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday morning.
