MARSHALL, Texas – Moving to 4-1 on the year, the East Texas Baptist University women's tennis team defeated Austin College, 8-1. ETBU didn't lose a double's match at all and now have won three straight matches.
ETBU started the match sweeping through the doubles matches.
Elisa Kendall and
Maddi Davis slipped by Gigi Francis and Phoebe Shapard in #1, 8-6.
Ashley Schenck and
Cassidy Wilcoxson then won the #2 doubles match, 8-2, over Maya Leisey and Megan Morris.
Kelsey Roberts and
Faith Kirk made it 3-0 with an 8-0 win over Madelin Hiler and Sierra Thomas.
Winning five of the six singles matches, Kendall won the #1 match, 6-4, 6-3, over Francis. Wilcoxson then won #3 singles, 6-0, 6-3, over Leisey and Roberts took the #4 match, 6-1, 6-1, over Hiler.
Corrine Hall added a point taking the #5 singles, 6-1, 6-4, over Morris, and then
Syvoney Ybarra finished off the scoring with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at #6 singles over Thomas.
ETBU will host both Howard Payne University and Trinity University on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
