ABILENE, Texas - Continuing their trend of swinging hot bats, the East Texas Baptist University baseball team added two more blowout victories on their schedule with wins over the Hardin-Simmons University Cowboys to complete the series sweep, 22-2, and 12-4. ETBU is now 12-5 overall and 7-2 in the American Southwest Conference.
Game one saw ETBU score 22 runs in seven-innings to win 22-2. Both
Zachary McAdams (four hits, two 2B) and
Will Kelley (three hits, 3B) would lead with five RBI.
Colson Sledge (two hits, HR) and
Fox Locke (two hits) drove in three RBI while
Jake Miller had three hits and an RBI.
Isaiah Alvarenga earned his fourth win of the season with four scoreless innings allowing two hits and four strikeouts.
Game two brought ETBU a 12-4 victory to finish the day with 34 runs scored and 49 for the series. Sledge once again had three RBI on two hits to lead ETBU. Kelley,

Cameron Neel (two RBI) picked up two hits each. While
Jacob Sherman started (2.1 IP, two runs, four hits, four strikeouts),
Cole Godkin earned his third win of the season with 3.2 innings allowing two hits and striking out five batters.

Game 1: ETBU 22, HSU 1 (7 Innings)
Leading off the game was Sledge, who would homer in his first at-bat to start the scoring. Five more runs would come into score as both McAdams and Locke had RBI singles while Kelley and
Austin Barry had RBI doubles to finish ETBU's first with six runs. McAdams would deliver in the second with a RBI single, which Kelley would follow with a two-run triple. Barry would then reach on an error, which scored Kelley and it was 10-0.
But more damage would come in the third as ETBU had eight runs in that inning. McAdams (two RBI double) and Kelley (RBI single) delivered RBIs in their third straight inning before Locke and Sledge picked up two run doubles while Miller added an RBI single to give ETBU an 18-0 lead. The Cowboys would get their first run in the bottom of the fifth on a solo homer.
Barry would pick up his second RBI with a single in the sixth inning. In the seventh,
Christopher Shay doubled to left scoring
Christopher Robinson. McAdams would then drive in Shay with a double before he would score on an error off the bat of
James McDowell. HSU had one more run across before the game ended in the seventh.

Game 2: ETBU 12, HSU 4
Two scoreless innings passed before ETBU picked up four runs in the third. After a bases loaded hit by pitch to Miller, Wilson singled in two runs while Jone's RBI groundout into a double play saw ETBU up 4-0. The Cowboys cut the lead in half in their half of the third inning. In the fourth, an error on a sacrifice bunt by Neel followed by a fielder's choice off of Sledge's bat brought back the four-run ETBU lead at 6-2.
Another two scoreless frames passed before HSU would bring home their third run of the game in the seventh. But in the eighth, the Tigers ran off six runs with Neel (two RBI single), Rowland (RBI single), and Sledge (two RBI double) drove in RBI hits while Blakley Welch reached base on a wild pitch after striking out, which scored Sledge. Only one Cowboy run would be scored in the ninth to preserve the 12-4 win.
ETBU will be home on Tuesday night at Woods Field against Centenary College at 7:00 PM.Â
