JACKSON, Miss. – Coming up short on the road in Mississippi, the East Texas Baptist University men's soccer dropped an American Southwest Conference contest to Belhaven University, 2-0. ETBU is now 3-4-1 and 3-3-0 in the ASC.
ETBU had a hard time finding their offense as they recorded only six shots with two on goal. Belhaven posted 22 shots with nine on goal.
Silas Sangano and
Dominic Wood both had two shots with one on goal each.
Gunner Barry recorded six saves in the loss while Max Rudolf had both saves for Belhaven.
Belhaven scored in the 38
th minute of the first half for the 1-0 lead. Sangano and the ETBU offense did take three shots in the first 22 minutes.
Travis Floyd had a shot go left in the 10
th minute and then in the 19
th Sangano had a wide shot. In the 22
nd minute, Sangano's shot was saved.
Dominic Wood then had his shot saved in the 27
th minute before Belhaven scored in the 38
th minute.
In the second half,
Isaiah Simien and Wood each put a shot towards that goal but both were wide. Belhaven made it 2-0 in the 51
st minute to seal the win.
ETBU will travel to Pineville, La., on Saturday for a 5:00 p.m. game with Louisiana College to end the regular spring season.
