MARSHALL, Texas - With all but one player in the lineup contributing a RBI, the East Texas Baptist University baseball completed the sweep of McMurry University in American Southwest Conference play with a 15-5 thrashing in seven innings. ETBU will head into next week at 15-6 overall and 10-2 in the ASC.
Zachary McAdams led the Tigers with four hits and the two RBI that ended the contest early.
Fox Locke would drive in a team-high three RBI while
Jase Jones (one hit),
Jake Miller (two hits), and
Carson Wilson (three hits) combined for six hits and each homered and produced two RBI.
Cole Godkin received the win in 6.2 innings of work allowing five runs on five hits with five strikeouts.
Two-outs into the bottom of the first, Jones would go yard for a two-run blast. One inning later, Neel led off the inning with a triple and then scored on a sac fly from Locke for a 3-0 lead. After McM scored in the top of the third, the Tigers would bring six runs across the plate as Wilson hit a two-run homer while Neel (RBI) and Locke (two RBI) each drove in two RBI singles. Locke scored on a sac fly from Sledge as it was 9-1 after three innings.
A two-run homer by McM cut the lead to six, 9-3, in the fourth before they added two runs in the seventh to come within four, 9-5. ETBU would end the game with six runs in the seventh with Brock Cavillo hitting a two-run triple while Miller would pick up a two-run homer. ETBU would follow by adding two runners on base and then McAdams singled in both of them to end the game by way of the mercy rule.
ETBU will travel to LSU-Shreveport for one game this Monday starting at 6:30 PM.
