Late Inning Rally Hands @ETBU_Softball Loss in Abilene

ABILENE, Texas - A late sixth-inning rally by the McMurry University War Hawks would deny the #2 East Texas Baptist University softball team a chance to take the series as they fell, 4-2. ETBU is now 13-3 overall and 9-3 in the American Southwest Conference.

Six ETBU players would each have a hit in the game with Nikki Gil being the only player to record a RBI. Sarah Cedillo, Hannah Garcia, Sarah Bledsoe, Jeanette Galvan, and Mariah Delgado would also record a hit. Preslye Cox took the loss going six innings allowing four runs on three hits and 10 strikeouts.

ETBU would score their two runs in the first inning as Cedillo led off with a bunt single before she scored on a wild pitch. Gil would then follow with a RBI single to fput ETBU up, 2-0. After being held down for the next two innings, ETBU put two runners on in the fourth inning only to have their threat stopped.

Cox held the War Hawk bats quiet for five innings while taking a no-hitter into the sixth. But once the no-hitter was broken up, the War Hawks would capitalize for four runs and the lead. ETBU would be retired in order in the seventh to end the game.

ETBU will be back this coming Thursday when they take on the University of Texas Dallas in a doubleheader starting at 5:00 PM.
