MARSHALL, Texas – Ending both games of the double header in five innings, the #5 East Texas Baptist University softball team earned two wins against the University of Texas Dallas in American Southwest Conference play. ETBU now sits at 15-3 overall and 11-3 in the ASC.

Sarah Cedillo and Mariah Delgado (RBI) also had three hits while Hannah Garcia collected two hits. Preslye Cox gave up two runs on two hits while striking out seven for the win.

Game two would be an 8-0 shutout win that also ended early in five innings. Tauryn Cummings (two RBI), Delgado, Nikki Gil, and Solis would each have a RBI on two hits to lead the offense. Ashley Croft would pitch another complete game victory allowing four hits and striking out three hitters.

Game 1: ETBU 10, UTD 2 (5 Inn.)
Following a scoreless first, ETBU would bring in six runs in the second inning. A steal home by Tristen Maddox was followed by RBI knocks from Delgado, Garcia, and Solis (two RBI) for five runs. Maddox would have her second at-bat of the inning with an RBI single as ETBU led 6-0 after two.

UTD broke the shutout in the fourth inning while ETBU added two runs in the bottom half of the inning as Musicant drove in a run on a single before Gil grounded out to drive in a run. The Comets then cut the deficit to 8-2 in the top of the fifth before Solis delivered a two-run double in the bottom of the fifth to seal the first win for ETBU.
