MARSHALL, Texas - Battling in two hard-fought games in the American Southwest Conference double header, the East Texas Baptist University baseball team split their games against Louisiana College. LC won game one, 4-2, but ETBU handed the Wildcats their first ASC loss in game two, 5-3. ETBU is now 17-11 overall and 12-5 in the ASC.
LC would overcome a 2-1 deficit to take the first game 4-2.
Jake Miller picked up two hits while
Austin Barry drove in both of ETBU's runs on a home run.
Isaiah Alvarenga pitched all seven innings and allowed four runs on 11 hits while striking out five receiving the loss.
Trailing 3-0 after one inning in game two, the Tigers would rally back to win 5-3 giving LC their first ASC loss of the season.
Christopher Shay picked up two hits while
Zachary McAdams homered in the win.
Blaine Parker (4.0 IP, three runs, three hits, three K) received the start but it was
Sayers Collins who was given the win with five no-hit innings allowing one batter to reach base while striking out a career-high 11 batters.

Game 1: LC 4, ETBU 2 (7 Inn.)
Both teams placed runners on third base in the first only to come up empty. LC would grab the early lead in the second inning on a single, 1-0. ETBU answered in their half of the second with a two-run blast from Barry to go up 2-1. Alvarenga would then hold down LC for the next two innings.
A two-out, two-run fifth-inning homer would put the Wildcats up 3-2. The Tigers had the go-ahead runs on base in the sixth inning with no outs but could not bring in the go ahead runs. LC would get an insurance run in the seventh and then seal the win with a 1-2-3 inning in the seventh.

Game 2: ETBU 5, LC 3
LC's momentum carried into the first inning of Game two as they struck for three runs. ETBU would get a run back on when Robinson grounded into a double play. McAdams would knot the ballgame with a two-run shot in the bottom of the third inning making it 3-3.
In the fifth inning, LC put their first two runners on base but Collins would come in and retire the next three batters with nine straight strikes to complete an immaculate inning. The score stayed tied until the Tigers would get a bases loaded walk in the seventh to go up 4-3.
Christopher Robinson then added a run on a single in the eighth inning making it 5-3. Collins would allow a runner to reach base on an error in the ninth before sealing the win with a pair of strikeouts.
The Tigers will try and take the series on Sunday at 2:00 PM.
