HAWKINS, Texas - On the road in their final weekday contests of the season, the East Texas Baptist University baseball team swept NAIA program Jarvis Christian College in a pair of seven-inning contest, 17-9, and 7-4.. The two wins give ETBU a 20-11 record and now have posted 20+ wins in six of the last seven seasons.

Overpowering from the opening pitch, the Tigers offense propelled themselves to a 17-9 win in game one. Zachary McAdams recorded a three-hit, three-RBI game, which included a solo home run. Christopher Robinson was one of four Tigers with two hits while leading ETBU with four RBI. Jake Miller (RBI), Austin Barry (three RBI), and and Christopher Shay (RBI) also had two hits in the game. Cole Codkin allowed two runs on four hits with four strikeouts for the win.

ETBU would hang on to a 7-4 win in the second game. While Will Kelley recorded a three-hit game, both Sayers Collins and Christopher Shay drove in three RBI and two hits each. Jacob Sherman picked up the win with four no-hit innings to start the game with five strikeouts and two walks. Daniel Rubio earned the save allowing one hit in the final inning of the game.

Game 1: ETBU 17, JCC 9 (7 Inn.)
Base running played a role in ETBU scoring two runs in the first inning as Miller scored on a wild pitch while Kelley drew a bases loaded walk. Each team then scored in the second inning with ETBU having Robinson drive in Shay on a fielder's choice. The Tigers then blew the game open with six runs in the third as McAdams recorded a two-run homer. Robinson and Sledge (two-RBI) would follow with RBI singles before McAdams recorded his third RBI of the inning with a bases loaded walk for a 9-1 lead.

ETBU had two runs in the fourth and fifth innings behind Miller's fourth-inning two-run single and Robinson's two-run triple in the fifth. While the Bulldogs added a run in their fourth inning, they would come within six, 13-7, by the end of the fifth with a five-run inning. ETBU turned the tide their way again as Barry cleared a bases loaded situation with a double while Shay drove him in to go up 17-7. JCC finished the first game with two runs as ETBU took the win, 17-9.

Game 2: ETBU 7, JCC 4 (7 Inn.)

Held hitless through four innings, the Bulldogs broke through with a leadoff homer in the fifth to trail 5-1.

In the sixth, Collins recorded his third RBI of the game with a sacrifice fly to right while Shay singled in a run to left. But three sixth inning runs by JCC made it 7-4. Rubio would come in to shut the door and complete the sweep in the seventh inning.
