MARSHALL, Texas - Despite rallying back from six runs down to tie the game at seven, the East Texas Baptist University baseball team would concede in extra innings to #14 Centenary College, 10-8. ETBU gave up three runs in the top of 10
th inning after tying it at seven in the bottom of the ninth. They are now 16-10 overall.

Christopher Shay (RBI) recorded two hits to lead ETBU. Both
Zachary McAdams (HR) and
Christopher Robinson would each record a hit and have two RBI in the contest.
Rece Gustafson received the start for ETBU but it was
Blake Corbin who took the loss in the 10
th inning.Â
Sayers Collins (three strikeouts) worked two innings while
Daniel Rubio,
Jacob Sherman, and
Zackery Pierce all pitched an inning a piece.

One batter into the game, the Gents would grab the early 1-0 lead on a solo home run. After that first run, Gustafson would hold the Gents down for three innings. However, ETBU's offense couldn't break through with runners in scoring position.Â

CC would break the game open with four runs in the top of the fourth for a 5-0 lead. ETBU got on the board in the bottom of the fifth as Robinson would drive in Barry on an RBI groundout. The Gents added two runs in the seventh to make it 7-1. ETBU would then scratch across a run off the bat of Shay in the bottom of the seventh. Then, McAdams would cut the lead to 7-4 with a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning.Â

In the ninth inning, ETBU tied the game with three runs at seven. Robinson reached on an error as a sacrifice bunt to start the rally scoring
Cameron Neel. Both
Jake Miller and
Carson Wilson had sacrifice flies to tie the game at seven. CC took the lead in the top of the 10
th inning as three runs came in on a double with two being unearned from errors that started the inning making it 10-7. ETBU's
Samuel Rowland answered in the bottom of the inning reaching base on a Gent error as Neel scored again in the game to cut the lead to two, 10-8. With the tying run at the plate, ETBU was unable to get the runs to come in as they fell to CC.

ETBU will remain at home this weekend with a Friday night game against Louisiana College at 7:00 p.m. to open the American Southwest Conference series.
