#TIGERSWIN | Late Offensive Surge Pushes @ETBU_Softball to 7-1 Victory on Senior Day

MARSHALL, Texas – A late offensive surge sent the #7 East Texas Baptist University softball team to a 7-1 victory over LeTourneau University on senior day. Completing the sweep, ETBU ends their regular season 26-5 overall and 22-5 in the American Southwest Conference tying for the ASC East Championship with Belhaven.

Seniors Sarah Cedillo (RBI) and Daniella Solis would each have two hits to lead ETBU. Tristen Maddox would record a team-high two RBI while Mariah Delgado, Sydnee Shea, Skyler Wilabay, and Allison Carrion also contributed a RBI. Hannah Kelley would become the third ETBU pitcher this series to toss a complete game while striking out five batters.

The first four innings would see ETBU and LETU trading zeroes. Kelley would hold LETU to one hit in the process while the Tigers saw a run wiped off in the third inning due to an overruled call on the field. LETU took the lead in the top of the fifth inning with a two-out RBI double, 1-0.

ETBU responded in the bottom of the fifth with two runs off of bunts by Delgado and Cedillo. Then, they would score five times in the sixth inning as Sarah Bledsoe scored on a fielder's choice from Wilabay before Carrion and Shea picked up RBI singles to make it 5-1. Maddox then drove in Cedillo and Nikki Gil to make the score 7-1.

ETBU will now move onto the ASC Tournament as the #2 seed next week in Mississippi as Belhaven University will be the host.
