ABILENE, Texas - Taking care of business in the American Southwest Conference Tournament first round, the East Texas Baptist University shut out Concordia University Texas, 5-0. This marks ETBU's 10th win of the season as they are currently 10-4 and they move to 9-4 all-time in the ASC Tournament.
The doubles portion would be a tough test for ETBU as both No. 1 (
Maddi Davis/
Elisa Kendall) and No. 2 (
Corrine Hall/
Ashley Schenck) had their work cut out for them with 8-6 wins for an early 2-0 lead.
Faith Kirk and
Kelsey Roberts would breeze through No. 3 doubles as 8-0 winners.

Of the six singles matches, played, the Tigers would win the first set four times. Ultimately, Kendall (No. 1, 6-3, 6-1) and Schenck (No. 2; 6-3, 7-5) would deliver the two points needed for ETBU's shutout win.
ETBU will face Hardin-Simmons University at 2:00 PM on Friday in the ASC Tournament semi-final match.
