Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

WS | Hard Fought Match with LETU Ends in a Draw

MARSHALL, Texas – Back at home at Cornish Field for Senior Night, the East Texas Baptist University women's soccer team drew a 0-0 tie with the LeTourneau University in American Southwest Conference play. ETBU is now 6-6-2 overall, 0-4-1 in the ASC, and 19-5-5 all-time against the Yellowjackets.

ETBU dominated the night at Cornish Field but couldn't connect with the goal. Olivia Gallegos led the team with shots on goal at four as the Tigers outshot the LETU, 29-11, with 14 shots on goal.

Addison Funk had a great game in net recording five saves and her fifth shutout of the year. Grace Loudermilk, Amy Pineda, Alana Coulter, Kayla Nichols, Olivia Gallegos, and Katelynn Smith were all honored as seniors for their time with the program.

In the first nine minutes of the match, ETBU had three shots on goal that were stopped by LETU. If that was any indication of how the match was going to go, it was pretty accurate. Two more shots on goal came in the 19th and 21st minute as LETU once again stopped the shots. ETBU ended the first half with seven shots on goal but was 0-0. Funk grabbed saves in the 11th and 34th minutes to keep the match scoreless.

ETBU came out attacking again in the 48th and 50th minutes with two shots on goal. Funk added another save in the 58th minute and ETBU took another look on goal in the 53rd, 58th, and 60th minutes. LETU's last shot on goal came in the 68th minute. ETBU continued to pressure until the end even sending a shot top right with nine seconds left in the match.

The Tigers will play their next match in Clarksville, Ark., against the University of the Ozarks Eagles on Thursday, October 20th, at 1:00 pm.
