CLARKSVILLE, Ark. – A late goal in the 89
th minute by the University of the Ozarks pushed them to break the 1-1 tie as East Texas Baptist University fell in the American Southwest Conference match. ETBU is now 6-7-2 and 0-5-1 in the ASC.
ETBU outshot Ozarks, 11-6, but only had five shots on goal to the Eagles four. ETBU also had five corner kicks to Ozarks one.
Brianna Mickshaw led the team with four shots as three of them were on goal.
Aaliyah Casas had three shots with one on goal as
Sarah Ramos had two looks with the only goal in the match.
Addison Funk recorded two saves for ETBU.
It was a scoreless first half as each team took just three shots. Mickshaw had the only shot on goal in the 26
th minute that was saved. ETBU had looks at the goal in the third and 35
th minutes.
The second half brought all the scoring as Ozarks found the net in the 51
st minute. ETBU almost answered in the 52
nd minute on a shot by Casas but it was blocked for a save. In the 71
st minute, Ramos broke through to tie the game at one on an assist from Mickshaw. In the 87
th minute, Mickshaw tried for the lead but was denied by the final save from Ozarks. Two minutes later, at the 88:09 mark, Ozarks netted the go ahead goal to make it 2-1. ETBU had back-to-back corner kicks in the 89
th minute but couldn't find the tying score. Ozarks took three shots in the half with two on goal.
ETBU will head to the University of Texas Dallas on Saturday for a 5:30 p.m. match.
