CLARKSVILLE, Ark. – After 87 minutes of scoreless play, the University of the Ozarks connected for the game winning goal in the 88
th minute denying East Texas Baptist University a tie, 1-0. ETBU is now 6-7-1 and 1-5-0 in the American Southwest Conference.
ETBU took four shots in the match with three on goal. Three of the shots came in the first half. Ozarks finished with nine shots, as eight came in the second half, with four on goal.
Garrett Garvin,
Bruno Palmieri, and
Ian Ebarb all had shots on goal.
Tristan Whelchel finished with three saves.
Palmieiri had the closest look for a goal in the 12
th minute with a shot to the bottom center that was stopped. Ebarb then had a shot on goal in the 37
th minute but Ozarks kept the shutout. Ozarks had just one shot on goal in the 19
th minute stopped by Whelchel.
Ozarks took four shots in the first 30 minutes with one on goal. Garvin then had a chance to score in the 79
th minute but his shot was saved at the top of the net as it remained 0-0. Ten minutes later, Ozarks guided one by ETBU into the net for the game winning goal. They also had a shot on goal in the 90
th minute that Whelchel stopped.
ETBU will play next on Saturday at the University of Texas Dallas at 7:30 p.m.
