WS | ETBU Defensive Effort Shy of Upset Over UTD

RICHARDSON, Texas – On the road for the second match this week, East Texas Baptist University traveled to the University of Texas Dallas but came up short of an upset, 1-0. ETBU is now 6-8-2 on the season and 0-6-1 in the American Southwest Conference.

ETBU started the action off with Amy Pineda taking the first shot 12 seconds into the game. Pineda would go on to take four shots during the game to lead the team. Both teams looked for an advantage until UTD's Janae Shaklee broke the tension with six minutes remaining in the first half. The Tigers went into the half having taken five shots as a team to UTD's six shots.

Adison Funk saved all four shots she faced in the second half with the first coming off the foot of Shaklee a minute and a half in. The Tigers first shot on target came at the 77-minute mark from Kat Izaguirre who sent a shot to the bottom right that was saved by Jade Press. ETBU sent two other shots towards goal with one by Olivia Gallegos and the other by Pineda. ETBU created more corner opportunities on the night with four to UTD's one.

ETBU will finish the regular season next week when they host Howard Payne and Sul Ross State at Cornish Field.
