VB | #TIGERSWIN | ETBU Sweeps HPU for the Season

MARSHALL, Texas - In another clean sweep, the East Texas Baptist University volleyball team defeated Howard Payne University for the second time this season, 3-0, 25-14, 25-15, 25-13. They are now 15-6 overall and 7-6 in the American Southwest Conference. 
 
Leading the team with her 16th double-double of the season was Graycee Mosley with 18 kills and 17 digs. Avery Reid recorded 10 kills, and Hannah Perry with seven. Lexi Moody finished with 30 assists and Lillie Hill had 29 digs. ETBU had one of their top hitting performances of the year at .336.
 
The first set began neck and neck, tying the score seven times. ETBU made a run with kills by Alexis Mack, Mosley, and Reid, bringing the score to 19-11. Perry ended the set with a kill from Moody, 25-14. 
 
The second set was kept close, early, before a kill by Mosley set the Tigers on a run. A kill by Reid from Moody made it, 16-10. Ainsley Reeve gave ETBU a seven-point lead, 18-11, with a kill. Mosley ended the set on another kill set from Eliana Zepeda, 25-15. 
 
ETBU came into the third set starting with a 7-2 run. Reid the put ETBU up by seven, 10-3, with a kill from Hill. Kristen Kruger recorded a kill to make it, 17-9 and then Mosley produced back to back kills that made it, 20-11. A kill by Perry pushed the lead to 11, 24-13, before the set was ended on an attack error from HPU, 25-13. 
 
ETBU will play again on Saturday, October 22, at 11:00 am against Sul Ross State in the final home match of the year. The seniors will also be recognized before the match.
