ABILENE, Texas – Playing their second game in West Texas in three days, East Texas Baptist University couldn't find the net in the 1-0 loss to McMurry University for American Southwest Conference women's soccer. ETBU is now 6-6-1 and 0-4 in the ASC.
ETBU took three shots on goal and six overall in the match as McMurry had 12 shots with six on goal.
Addison Funk was in goal recording five saves.
Mallory Duncan,
Bailey Havens, and
Elizabeth Wynne had the shots on goal.
In the first 14 minutes of the game, ETBU had two shots from Kat Izaguirre and
Katherine Vela that were wide. Those were the only two shots in the first half. Funk stopped one shot from McMurry in the 32
nd minute as the teams were scoreless at the half.
Funk recorded three saves in the first 10 minutes of the second half before McMurry slipped one by her in the 58
th minute for the 1-0 lead. Wynne had her shot on goal stopped in the 66
th minute and then Duncan's look was saved in the 79
th minute as ETBU pressured the Warhawks. Havens gave ETBU one last shot to tie the game in the 84
th minute but came up short.
ETBU will be back at home on Saturday, October 15, when they host LeTourneau University at 5:00 p.m.
