#TIGERSWIN | MBB | Hot Shooting Second Half Pushes ETBU to Comeback Win in ASC

AUSTIN, Texas – Shooting lights out in the second half, East Texas Baptist University overcame an eight-point deficit for an 83-78 win over Concordia University Texas. ETBU is now 14-10 and 12-7 in the American Southwest Conference. ETBU shot 70% from the floor in the second half making 40% from the three-point line.
 
Five players finished in double figures as Chris Haynes led the way with 19 points adding seven rebounds. Darry Moore had 17 points and eight rebounds followed by Jaden Conner's 16 points, Jayden Williams 15 points, and Aaron Gregg's 11 points. DJ Pigford led CTX with 18 points.
 
CTX led the entire first half building a 14 point lead, twice. The largest 14-point lead was 21-7 with 14:13 left in the half. With 10:14 to go, CTX still had a 10-point lead, 28-18, but by the 6:31 mark ETBU had it down to four, 31-27, on a 9-3 run. Conner hit a three-pointer to pull within the four points. Williams pulled ETBU to within three points, 36-33, with 4:43 left on two free throws while Conner made it a two point game, 38-36, with 2:59 left. CTX finished the half on an 8-2 run for the eight-point lead at the half, 46-38.
 
For most of the second half, CTX kept their distance. With 9:42 left to play, they were up, 65-58. Over the next five minutes, ETBU went on an 11-1 run for a three-point lead, 69-66, ending in a Haynes layup. ETBU would stay a bucket ahead of CTX most of the next two minutes until the Tornadoes tied the game at 73 with 2:10 remaining. Gregg swooshed a three-pointer for the lead with 1:40 left and a free throw from Moore and then Williams gave ETBU a five-point lead, 79-74, with 27 seconds left. ETBU went 5-of-6 from the free throw line in the last 27 seconds for the five-point win, 83-78.
 
ETBU will take on #9 Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas, on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
