ABILENE, Texas – Playing to a suspended game two due to weather, #4 East Texas Baptist University won game one, 9-1, over Hardin-Simmons University. Game two was tied at three when it was suspended in the top of the sixth inning. ETBU is currently 5-2 on the year and in the American Southwest Conference.
Delanie Loya led ETBU with four RBI going 2-of-2 at the plate with a home run.
Courtney White added a 3-of-3 performance while
Corley Carpenter had two hits.
Marin Musicant and
Sarah Bledsoe each had two RBI.
Kathryn Reed pitched six innings to go 3-0 on the year with two strikeouts giving up just one earned run.
Musicant drove in the first of two RBI with a single that rolled through the left side of the infield as White scored. Loya followed directly after Musciant driving in two runs with a single to right center field for the 3-0 lead in the first inning. Loya had a two-run home run in the third inning pushing the lead to 5-0.
LOYA HOME RUN
HSU scored their only run in the bottom of the 4
th to come within four runs. Maddox made it 6-1 with a home run in the sixth inning followed by a Musicant sacrifice fly making it 7-1. Bledsoe finished off the scoring with a double to left center field as two runs came in for the 9-1 score.
Game two is tied, 3-3, in the top of the sixth inning and will start at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Game three will follow after that.
