CONWAY, Ark. – Pushing through for their second win of the year, the East Texas Baptist University men's tennis team won their first match of the day, 6-3, over Hendrix College. ETBU then fell to Evangel University, 6-3, in the second match. ETBU is now 2-9 on the year.
ETBU 6, HC 3
ETBU took both the #2 and #3 doubles matches for the 2-1 lead.
Slade Austin and
Randal Lemmon won the #2 match, 8-5.
Tim Cooley and
Parker Stewart then won the #3 match, 8-3, for the second point.
Christian Dubec and
Brycen Fears lost in a tiebreaker, 8-7, at #1.
In the singles matches, ETBU took four matches for the team win. Austin took the #2 match, 6-3, 6-4, and then Fears won the #4 match, 5-6, 6-3, 6-2, in a tiebreaker.
Parker Stewart then won the tiebreaking match, 6-3, 0-6, 6-2, for the fifth point and Fuhr won the #6 match, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5, in another tiebreaker. Overall, ETBU won three tiebreaking matches in singles.

Stewart and
Abraham Silva won the #3 doubles match to trail, 2-1, after doubles play. Then Silva won his #5 match, 7-6, 2-6, 10-1, for the second point. Cooley then won the #6 singles, 6-4, 6-3, for ETBU's third point.
ETBU will next play on Friday, March 25, when they host Texas Dallas at 2:00 p.m.
