MARSHALL, Texas – A ninth inning rally by Hardin-Simmons University ended East Texas Baptist University's 10-game winning streak, 7-6. ETBU is now 12-3 and 9-1 in the American Southwest Conference.
Cole Godkin went eight innings recording 12 strikeouts giving up just three runs.
Peyton Miller receives the loss giving up four runs on three hits in the ninth inning. Chris Robinson was 3-of-4 with four RBI and two home runs.
Nick Massarini had a home run for one RBI while
Brett Wagner had one RBI.
ETBU took a 4-0 lead in the first six innings of the game. Wagner had a sac fly in the first inning as Zach McAdams scored. Massarini then homered in the fifth and Robinson had a two run home run in the sixth for the 4-0 lead. HSU cut the lead to two in the seventh but Robinson had a home run to make it 6-2 with a two-run shot. HSU then scored one in the eighth and then four in the ninth for the win.
The series will continue on Saturday with a double-header.
