SHERMAN, Texas – Taking to road for the third time in the last four matches, the East Texas Baptist University men's tennis team came away with an 8-1 victory over Austin College. ETBU is now 5-11 on the year.
The doubles matches were tight at number one and two as both teams split. ETBU fell in the number one match, 8-5, but
Abraham Silva and
Brycen Fears took the #2 match, 8-2. ETBU then won the #3 match due to an Austin College withdraw to take the 2-1 lead.
ETBU then swept through the singles matches winning every one.
Christian Dubec won the #1 match in a tie breaker, 3-6, 6-3, 10-5 followed by wins from
Slade Austin (#2), 6-2, 6-2, and
Randal Lemmon (#3), 6-3, 6-0.
Parker Stewart won at the #4 match, 6-2, 6-3, while
Matthew Fuhr took #5, 6-0, 6-2. Silva rounded out the sweep at #6 with a with draw in for six points in singles.
ETBU will travel to LeTourneau University on Thursday for their final ASC East Division match of the year at 3:00 p.m.
