#TIGERSWIN | BB | ETBU Shuts Out CTX for 21st ASC Win

AUSTIN, Texas – Opening up the American Southwest Conference series with a shutout, East Texas Baptist University won their 24th game of the year, 7-0, blanking Concordia University – Texas. ETBU is now 24-9 and 21-4 in the ASC.
 
Cole Godkin went eight innings recording seven strikeouts and allowing just two hits for his sixth win of the year. He retired the side in the second, third, and fourth innings. Daniel Rubio worked the ninth inning earning a strikeout. Christopher Robinson, Austin Barry, and Carson Wilson led the team with two hits each. Robinson and Brett Wagner both had two RBI while Barry, and Wilson added a RBI.
 
ETBU took a 2-0 lead in the second inning as Wagner doubled in Jase Jones for the first run. Wilson followed with a single bringing in Wagner for the two-run lead. After five scoreless innings, ETBU added two more runs in the eighth inning. Barry made it 3-0 on a RBI single as Miller came in and then Wagner had a sacrifice fly as Will Kelley became the fourth run. An error in the ninth allowed Zachary McAdams to score for a 5-0 lead. Robinson finished of the scoring with a two RBI single through the left side as both Miller and Wilson touched home plate.
 
Rubio came in the ninth inning recording two straight outs with a strikeout and fly out before an error allowed a base runner. The final out came on a fielder's choice as ETBU took the first game, 7-0.
 
ETBU will finish out the series on Friday with a double header starting at 12:00 p.m. in Austin, Texas.
