MARSHALL, Texas – Shutting out Concordia University Texas in a double header sweep, the East Texas Baptist University softball team gave head coach
Janae Shirley her 500
th career win in game two. ETBU won game one, 4-0, and game two, 2-0, moving to 24-7 on the year and 18-5 in the ASC.
Hannah Kelley and
Kathryn Reed earned the wins. Kelley was won game one with seven strikeouts while Reed took game two with six strikeouts.
Delanie Loya led the team with four hits and four RBI.

Game 1
ETBU 4, CTX 0
Kelley threw a three-hit shut out winning her ninth game of the year. Loya went 3-of-4 with two RBI to lead the team.
Tristen Maddox added two hits and one RBI while
Lorena Ramirez posted the other RBI.
Loya made it 1-0 in the first inning on a double to left centerfield as
Mary Frances Ellis scored. ETBU the scored three runs in the fourth inning making it 4-0. Maddox had a solo home run to left field for a 2-0 lead. Loya made it 3-0 on a single up the middle as Ellis came in. Ramirez was then hit by the pitch with the bases loaded as the fourth run came in.
Game 2
ETBU 2, CTX 0
After five scoreless innings, ETBU scored two runs in the sixth inning for the sweep on day one. Reed went seven innings for the win allowing just two hits and recording six strikeouts. ETBU had five hits as Maddox,
Courtney White, Loya,
Denver Starkes, and Ramirez all had one it. Loya led the team with two RBI.
With no outs in the sixth inning, Loya doubled in both White and Maddox for the only runs of the game.
ETBU will finish off the series with one game at 12:00 p.m. on Friday.
