LONGVIEW, Texas – Ending the American Southwest Conference East Division schedule with a victory, the East Texas Baptist University women's tennis team held off LeTourneau University, 7-2. ETBU is now 8-9 on the year and 3-1 in the ASC East.
ETBU took two of the three doubles matches for the early 2-1 lead.
Jayde Childress and
Gabbi Hammerbach won the number one match, 8-6.
Corrine Hall and
Kylee Mixon then put ETBU up, 2-1, with an 8-0 victory.
Taking five of the six singles matches, ETBU held onto the 7-2 win. Childress won the number one match, 6-3, 7-6 (7-1), with a tiebreaker. Hammerbach held off Madison Morris, 7-6, 6-2, for another point and then
Andrea Alvarez won the number three singles in a tiebreaker, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2. Hall earned a point at number four in a 6-4, 7-5 win.
Faith Kirk then won the final point in number six singles with a 6-2, 6-2 score.
ETBU will face St. Thomas – Houston Next weekend in their final regular season match.
