MARSHALL, Texas – Finishing out the regular season with a 5-4 victory, the East Texas Baptist University women's tennis team defeated the University of St. Thomas – Houston. ETBU is now 9-9 on the year heading into the American Southwest Conference tournament.
 
ETBU started the match with three straight wins in doubles. Gabbi Hammerbach and Jayde Childress combined for an 8-6 win at number one. Faith Kirk and Kylee Mixon then took the number two doubles match, 8-4. Andrea Alvarez and Isabelle Duarte were given the win at number three by default.
 
It wasn't until Keelie Stamson won the number five singles match, 6-0, 6-1, to make it 4-4 as ETBU fell in singles matches one through four. ETBU then won the match after Duarte won at number six due to a default.
 
ETBU will next play this week in the ASC Tournament.
