JACKSON, Miss. – Taking their first American Southwest Conference East Division win of the year, the East Texas Baptist University women's tennis team won, 8-1, over Belhaven University. ETBU is now 5-9 on the year and 1-1 in the ASC East.
 
ETBU swept through the doubles matches for a 3-0 lead. Gabbi Hammerbach and Jayde Childress won the #1 match, 8-3, for the 1-0 lead. Isabelle Duarte and Faith Kirk and Corinne Hall and Kylee Mixon won the #2 and #3 matches, 8-1, to move ahead, 3-0.
 
In singles play, Childress took the #2 match, 6-0, 6-1 followed by a 6-3, 6-1 win at #3 from Andrea Alvarez. Hall took the #4 match, 6-0, 6-1, as Duarte won #5, 6-0, 6-1, and Kirk had a 6-1, 6-0, win at #6.
 
ETBU will host the University of the Ozarks on Saturday, April 9, at 11:00 a.m. for their next match.
