RICHARDSON, Texas – Finishing off the series with the University of Texas Dallas, #4 East Texas Baptist University shut out the Comets while putting 17 runs on the board. ETBU is now 27-8 overall and 21-6 in the American Southwest Conference.
ETBU scored in four of the five innings for their 17 runs as
Ashley Croft pitched a three-hit shutout with four strikeouts.
Courtney White led the team with three hits adding two RBI. Both
Delanie Loya and
Sarah Bledsoe had two hits for three RBI.
Alison Carrion and
Tristyn Barton added two RBI while
Tauryn Cummings and
Denver Starkes had one RBI. Loya and Bledsoe recorded home runs.
Scoring seven runs in the first two innings, ETBU jumped out to an enormous lead and didn't' look back. The first run came in on a throwing error as White scored and then Bledsoe had a two-run home run for the 3-0 lead. The fourth run scored in the second inning on an error and then Carrion singled in
Leah Akridge making it 5-0. Cummings and Bledsoe then had back-to-back sac flies for the seven-run lead at the end of the second.
The biggest inning came in the fourth scoring eight runs. Loya had a three-run homer extending the lead to 10. The next run came in on an error and then Barton singled in two runs for the 13-0 lead. White singled up the middle to score Barton and Akridge to go up 15-0. Stark earned a RBI on a fielder's choice and then Carrion walked with the bases loaded to finish up the win, 17-0.
ETBU has one more ASC series left next week on Tuesday and Wednesday at LeTourneau University.
