#TIGERSWIN | SB | ETBU Sweeps LETU Recording a Shutout in Game Two

LONGVIEW, Texas – In the final American Southwest Conference series of the year, #8 East Texas Baptist University swept day one of the series over LeTourneau University. ETBU won, 5-4, and 2-0, improving to 29-8 on the year and 23-6 in the ASC.
 
Hannah Kelley and Kathryn Reed received the wins while Toni Tamborello recorded a save in game one. Tauryn Cummings had a home run in game one while Tristen Maddox had two RBI. In game two, Courtney White and Delanie Loya posted a RBI each.

Kelley went 6.2 innings for her ninth win of the year as Tamborello came in to get the final out recording a save. Kelley had two strikeouts in the win. Lorena Ramirez and Mary Frances Ellis had two hits while Maddox led the team with two RBI and Cummings one RBI.
 
Cummings connected for a home run in the first inning for the quick 1-0 lead. LETU tied it up in the fourth inning but ETBU added three in the sixth for a 4-1 lead. Leah Akridge scored on an error to take the lead, 2-1. Maddox then doubled in two runs to make it, 4-1. Sarah Bledsoe was the fifth run of the game in the seventh on another LETU error as ETBU went up, 5-1. LETU scored three runs in the seventh inning before Tamborello recorded the final out to give ETBU the one-run win.
 
ETBU 2, LETU 0
Reed pitched a four-hit shutout recording five strikeouts as she improved to 10-3 on the year. Six players each had one hit as White and Loya recorded a RBI each.
 
In the third inning, White grounded out as Frances Ellis came in for the 1-0 lead. It wasn't until the seventh inning that ETBU added an insurance run as Loya grounded out scoring Maddox for the two-run lead.
 
ETBU held onto the lead in the bottom of the inning taking both games.
 
ETBU will finish off the series at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday night in Longview.
