BB | Seventh Inning Comeback Falls Short as ETBU Drops Game One vs. LETU

MARSHALL, TX -  A two-run seventh inning rally for East Texas Baptist University wasn't enough to get past LeTourneau University in the opening game of the American Southwest Conference baseball series as the Tigers fell, 3-2. ETBU is now 21-9 on the year and 18-4 in the ASC..

Cole Godkin had an impressive day on the mound striking out 12 batters allowing two earned runs on five hits in a complete game performance.Jase Jones, Austin Barry, and Jake Miller led the team with two hits each. Barry and Zachary McAdams had one RBI.

Following two runs in the top of the first inning and one in the 6th for a 3-0 LETU lead, the Tigers picked up some steam heading into the seventh inning. Barry drove in Sam Rowland on a RBI double for the first run of the game. McAdams then singled into right field for the other RBI as Barry came in. Miller was then able to single to left field and advance the Tigers to have a tying run on second, but a grounder ended ETBU's momentum.

The Tigers had another shot to win the game in the bottom of the ninth with runners in scoring position. Wild pitches advanced runners to second and third with two out, but ETBU couldn't find the hit they needed for the winning runs.

ETBU will finish off their series tomorrow against LETU in a double header starting at 1:00 PM on Baseball Alumni Day.
