#TIGERSWIN | ETBU's Five Home Runs, 21 Strikeouts Lead to Sweep of LETU

MARSHALL, Texas – Unleashing their offensive power in a double header sweep of LeTourneau University, the East Texas Baptist University baseball team combined for 26 runs and 33 hits on Saturday winning, 20-6, and 6-1. ETBU is now 23-9 overall and 20-4 in the American Southwest Conference. It is the first time in program history for ETBU to have 20 ASC wins in a season as they maintain first place.
 
Sayers Collins had nine strikeouts in game one as he moved to 8-1 on the year. Braden Karnes received his first ASC start and went seven of the nine innings with a career-high seven strike outs improving to 3-1. ETBU had five home runs on the day as Zachary McAdams posted three home runs for six RBI as Jase Jones and Jake Miller also recorded home runs.

Game 1
ETBU 20, LETU 6

After a close first inning and a 2-1 lead, ETBU scored 18 runs over the next five innings for the win. They recorded 21 hits as Miller, Jones, Brett Wagner, and Nick Massarini all had three hits. McAdams had two hits but both were home runs. Jones led the team with five RBI while Miller, McAdams had four RBI, Will Kelley posted three RBI, Austin Barry had two RBI, and Christopher Shay, Wagner, and Massarini had one RBI. Collins pitched five innings with nine strikeouts on five hits, and three earned runs. Rece Gustafason had on strikeout in one inning of work and Makenson Bobo allowed just one hit in the ninth.
 
Wagner and Barry gave ETBU the 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first on a single and a double. LETU tied it up in the top of the second but then ETBU unleashed for five runs in the bottom of the inning to take over the game. ETBU Then added four runs in the third, one in the fourth, and eight in the sixth inning for their 20 runs.
 
Game 2
ETBU 6, LETU 1

Karnes dominated the LETBU line up in game two only allowing three hits through seven innings. ETBU scored all their runs in that time supporting his strong pitching performance. He retired the side in the sixth and seventh innings. Peyton Miller finished the final two innings recording four strikeouts giving up four hits and one earned run. Wagner was 3-of-5 to lead the team in hits. Miller, Kelley, and Jones added two hits each. Miller then had wo RBI along with McAdams as Jones gave one RBI.
 
Jones doubled in Miller in the first inning for the quick 1-0 lead. Miller then tripled in the second inning for two RBI as both Carson Wilson and Massarini came in for the 3-0 advantage. In the fourth inning, McAdams had a two-run home run making it 5-0. Miller then scored in the fifth inning on an error for the 6-0 lead. LETU had their only run in the eighth inning.
 
ETBU will travel to the University of Dallas on Tuesday for a regional game.
