MARSHALL, Texas – In a close match on senior day, the East Texas Baptist University men's tennis team came up short of a victory against the University of the Ozarks, 6-3. ETBU is now 4-11 and 1-2 in the ASC East.
The doubles matches could have gone either way with the closeness of the each match.
Christian Dubec and
Slade Austin won the #1 match, 8-4, for the first point of the match.
Abraham Silva and
Brycen Fears fell at #2, 8-6, and then
Randal Lemmon and
Tim Cooley lost in a tiebreak at #3, 8-7, as ETBU was down 2-1.
ETBU lost three tiebreaking matches in singles which became the difference of the match. They started out with a win at #1 as Dubec won, 6-3, 6-2.
Matthew Fuhr then won at #5, 4-6, 6-4, 11-9, for a tie breaking win and three overall points. It was at #3 that
Slade Austin lost, 6-3, 6-4, 6-3, as on of the three tie breakers lost.
Parker Stewart fell at #4, 4-6, 6-2, 1-6, and then Silva fell at #6, 6-3, 2-6, 7-10.
ETBU will travel to Sherman, Texas, on Sunday for a match vs. Austin College.
