Marshall, Texas – On a hot and muggy Sunday afternoon, East Texas Baptist University took on #21 University of St. Thomas Houston that ended in a 4-0 loss for the Tigers. UST out shot ETBU, 24-5. ETBU is now 3-2-1 on the year.
The first half saw ETBU create a few opportunities and defend the Celts, however, after 20 minutes of play UST found their first goal. Taty Aleman was able to slip one past Berry to the left side of the goal. Gabe Salako put away the third goal for St. Thomas and Daniel Castro had two. Castro's second goal was the fourth score of the match as there were two minutes left in the first period. ETBU's best chance of the half came on a shot by
Garrett Garvin that went across the goal and hit the post. Berry had two crucial saves that kept the Celts from extending their lead.
In the second ETBU was able to hold UST to eight shots and a no goals as
Tristan Whelchell replaced Berry in goal. Whelchell recorded two saves in goal. ETBU was showed streaks of offense in the second half creating three chances to score but not finding the net.
ETBU's will play next on Friday September 23 at home vs Mississippi University for Women.
