GEORGETOWN, Texas – In a well-balanced match against an established program, East Texas Baptist University tied Southwestern University, 3-3, on Sunday afternoon in Central Texas. Southwestern was the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season champions in 2021. ETBU is now 4-2-1 on the year.
 
ETBU took 13 shots with nine on goal as Southwestern had 16 shots with eight on goal. Sarah Ramos collected two goals on three shots on goal with one assist. Kat Izaguire also had three shots with one on goal. Addison Funk recorded five saves.
 
Southwestern struck early in the 12^th minute for the early 1-0 lead. Ramos tied the match at one in the 21^st minute before the Pirates retook the lead in the 31^st minute. ETBU went into the half down, 2-1.
 
In the 55^th minute, Izaguirre tied the match at two on an assist from Ramos. Then, in the 60^th minute, Ramos put ETBU up for the first in the match, 3-2. Southwestern then found the net in the 77^th minute to tie the match at three. Southwestern had a chance for the go ahead goal in the 82^nd minute but the shot went wide.
 
ETBU will travel to Hendrix College on Tuesday for a 6:00 p.m. match.
