LONGVIEW, Texas – Battling back and forth for 90 minutes, the rivalry match between East Texas Baptist University and LeTourneau University ended in a 0-0 tie. It is the fifth tie of the year for ETBU as they are now 1-6-5 and 0-4-1 in the American Southwest Conference.
ETBU took 12 shots in the match with three on goal while LETU had 16 shots and seven on goal.
Garrett Garvin led the team with three shots taking two on goal.
Anthony Lozada recorded all six saves.
ETBU took just two shots in the first half with none on goal as LETU had nine. Lozada stopped back-to-back shots in the 18
th and 20
th minutes to keep it at 0-0. Lozada then stopped another shot in the 29
th minute, 36
th, and 44
th minute preserving the tie at the half.
The offense looked alive in the second half with three shots on goal. In a 10 minute span, they took seven shots from the 46
th minute to the 56
th minute. Shots on goal came from Garvin in the 54
th minute and
Brenden Gajewski in the 55
th minute. Lozada stopped another LETU shot in the 73
rd minute and 84
th minute. Garvin made a last second attempt for a goal in the 86
th minute but it was saved.
ETBU will have their final two home matches of the year next weekend starting with Texas Dallas on Thursday, Oct. 19, at 7:30 p.m.
