MARSHALL, Texas – Recording their third shutout of the season, East Texas Baptist University held McMurry University scoreless for a 2-0 at Cornish Field. ETBU is now 5-1-3 overall and 2-1-0 in the American Southwest Conference.
Carly Wyatt netted both goals in the second half after nobody scored in the first half. Goalkeeper
Addison Funk led the team in saves with four as the defense played strong again.

Mallory Duncan, and
Makayla Baxter and a host of midfielders and defenders led in the strong defensive effort as McM had just four shots on goal and 10 shots overall. Wyatt also led the team in shots at four with three on goal.
The first half got off to a to a start with throw-ins from both sides with a multitude of them from ETBU. The first offensive action of the game was a shot on goal from Wyatt at 3:57 as it went high right being saved by the War Hawks. Not long after another, another shot on goal came from Kat Izaguirre at 4:39.
Sarah Ramos made her first shot of the game at 7:43 as it missed left and under two minutes later Ramos took her second shot attempt at 9:33. Izaguirre made her second shot attempt of the game at 11:08 but it was blocked by the War Hawks. The next thirty minutes of play were back and forth between both teams. It is not until 42:38 that Funk collected her first save of the game.
It was a great start in the second half for ETBU with Wyatt scoring her first goal of the game at 46:04 with an assist from Ramos. Gisselle Laredo made her only shot attempt of the game at 51:59 unfortunately it missed high-right. Wyatt took her next shot attempt at 52:46 but it went high over the net.
Olivia Gallegos had a shot on goal attempt at 57:58 but it was saved by McMurry.
Karen Juarez had a shot on goal at 62:21 but it once again saved by McMurry. Funk made her second save of the at 67:21 and then at 78:36 had her third save. Her fourth save came at 81:30 as it remained 1-0. Less than a minute later, Wyatt beat the defender and added an insurance goal at 82:12. McMurry spent the next eight minutes trying to create scoring opportunities but were only able to have one shot attempt right at the buzzer that veered off to the right.
ETBU will face Hardin-Simmons University at Cornish Field on October 7 at 5:00 P.M.
