ABILENE, Texas – Staying undefeated in the American Southwest Conference with their 10
th sweep of the year, East Texas Baptist University took the match over McMurry University, 3-0, 25-20, 25-20, 25-13. ETBU is now 13-2 overall and 6-0 in the ASC.
ETBU had 38 kills in the match with a .313 hitting percentage in set three with 12 kills.
Graycee Mosley led the team with 13 kills as
Hannah Perry added eight kills.
Sydney Temple added 20 assists while
Lillie Hill recorded 27 digs and
Grace Williamson had five combined blocks.
In set one, ETBU took a 7-0 lead with three service aces from Temple. Another service ace from Hill made it 13-3 and an
Anita Hancock service ace put ETBU by 10, 19-9. McM battled back to come within five, 23-18, before a Mosley kill ended set one, 25-20.
There was an early battle in set two as showed several ties. McM went up, 12-11, but three straight ETBU points on kills from Williamson, Mosley, and Perry made it 14-12. McM won five of the next seven points for a 17-16 lead only to see ETBU go up, 20-18, on a kill and service ace from Mosley. McM cut the lead to one, 20-19, only to see a Warhawk error and three service aces from Hancock make it, 24-19.
Maddison Harris finished off the set on a kill, 25-20, as ETBU went up, 2-0.
McM stayed with ETBU early in set three as the Tigers had a 6-5 lead. ETBU went on a 5-0 run with two service aces and a kill by Mosley to make it 11-5. In the next 12 points, ETBU scored eight for a 19-10 lead as Mosely scored the 19
th point. McM added a point to hit double digits, 19-10, but ETBU scored three straight points for a 22-10 lead. After McM scored the next two points, 22-12, ETBU won the match 25-13, scoring three of the final four points on a kill by Mosley and Harris, 25-13.
ETBU will travel to the other side of Abilene and take on Hardin-Simmons University on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
