MARSHALL, Texas – Hosting the Tip Off Classic for the second year in a row, East Texas Baptist University opens up the 2023-24 season in Ornelas Gym with two games. ETBU will be taking on Rhodes College and #12 Trinity University while the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor will be participating, too.

ETBU is coming a 20+ win season from 2022-23 and playing in the American Southwest Conference Championship game just missing out on the NCAA Division III Tournament. Blake Arbogast enters his fourth year as head coach and fifth at ETBU.

The season started on October 28 in an exhibition game in Baton Rouge, La., against #1 LSU. The experience gave ETBU a chance to take on the reigning national champions in NCAA Division I and play together for the first time.

ETBU returns nine players but no starters from the 2022-23 team. There are 10 newcomers, also, with two transfers and seven freshmen.
