#TIGERSWIN | MBB | ETBU Dominates Final Four Minutes of Game For Second ASC Win

AUSTIN, Texas – An 8-0 run late in the second half secured the victory for East Texas Baptist University, 67-62, over Concordia University Texas in the American Southwest Conference. ETBU was down one, 52-51, with 4:17 left when they started the 8-0 run to take a five-point lead, 59-54, en route to their win. ETBU is now 2-4 on the year and 2-1 in the ASC.
 
Jaden Conner came off the bench hitting three three-pointers for 15 points while grabbing six rebounds. Darry Moore led the team with 17 points and seven rebounds. Joshua R Davis finished with 11 points and five rebounds while Ryan Elzy added 10 points. Kody Alexander recorded three blocks. Donovan Stafford led CTX with 26 points.
 
ETBU shot 41 percent from the floor, 31 percent from the arc, and 65 percent from the line. CTX made 44 percent of their shots, was 37 percent from the three-point area, and 57 percent from the free throw line. ETBU out rebounded CTX, 37-33, forcing 15 turnovers for 12 points.
 
In a back and forth game, it came down to the final four minutes. CTX hit a three-pointer to go up, 52-51, with 4:17 left. Conner responded 22 seconds later with a three-pointer to retake the lead, 54-52, starting an 8-0 run. Conner then made two free throws at the 2:51 mark (56-52) as Kurt Labeaud hit one free throw for the five-point lead, 57-52. Moore finished off the run on a layup making it, 59-52, with 1:51 to go. CTX pulled within five, 59-54, with 1:25 left, but Davis canned two free throws 43 seconds later for a seven-point advantage, 61-54. CTX made a three-pointer with 20 seconds left making it, 63-59, but Moore went 3-of-4 from the line in the next 10 seconds for a seven-point lead, 66-59. CTX hit a three-pointer with three seconds left but Moore made 1-of-2 free throws with no time left for the five-point win, 67-62.
 
CTX took a 6-0 lead to start the game and was up 10-2 just six minutes into the game. ETBU cut the lead to three, 12-9, on a 7-2 run on an Elzy jumper. CTX built their lead back up to nine points, 18-9, just under 10 minutes to play in the half. They kept a six-point lead, 20-14, with 8:57 left and held onto the lead with a six-point lead, 25-19, at the 3:19 mark. ETBU ended the final three-minutes on an 8-1 run to take a one-point lead, 27-26, at the half. Michael Roberts started the run with a fast break layup and then a Moore dunk at 2:45 put ETBU with two points, 25-23. Davis hit a three-pointer with 1:35 to go for ETBU's first lead of the game, 26-25. CTX tied the game at 26 making one of two free throws and then Davis connected on one free throw with 15 seconds left for the one-point lead, 27-26, at the half.
 
ETBU travels to Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday for a 3:00 p.m. game in ASC play.
