#TIGERSSWEEP | WTN | ETBU Stays Perfect at 3-0

MARSHALL, Texas – Running away with two matches in their first home meet of the year, East Texas Baptist University defeated both Austin College and Schreiner University to move to 3-0. ETBU shutout Austin College, 9-0, and then only allowed one point vs. Schreiner, 8-1.
 
ETBU has now won their last four meetings vs. Austin College and six of the last seven against Schreiner. The win over Schreiner bests their loss to them last year.
 

ETBU 9, Austin College 0
ETBU began the morning with a shutout win over AC, 9-0, starting with winning doubles, 3-0. First was Keel Stamson and Shyan Darr, who won by default at no. 3. Grayce Malone and Isabelle Duarte gave ETBU their second point with an 8-0 win over Tara Tran and Karina Alvarez.. Addy Seward and Jayde Childress ended the doubles matches, defeating Maya Leisey and Bailey Standokes, 8-1., at no. 1 
 
ETBU followed playing in singles taking all six matches. Malone earned a win at no. 6 by default. Stamson followed defeating Cynthia Zapate, 6-0, 6-0, at no. 5. Childress then won against Bailey Standokes, 6-0, 6-0, at no. 2. Seward put up a 6-0, 6-0, win against Maya Leisey, at no.1. Fernanda Ruiz Burkart followed taking down Tara Tran, 6-0, 6-1, at no. 3. Ending the match was Darr, with a 6-1, 6-1 win against Karina Alvarez, at no. 4
 

ETBU 8, Schreiner 1
Schreiner had their only win in doubles as ETBU moved to 3-0 on the year with an 8-1 win. Ruiz and Sharafeldin Maryam edged out Rachel Rompel/Grace Deininger, 8-6, at no. 2 to tie the match at one. Childress and Malone then won no. 3, 8-3, for the 2-1 lead.
 
ETBU then won all the singles matches starting with Seward at no. 1 in a 7-6 (7-3), 6-3, win. Bailey Smith then won at no. 2, 6-4, 6-1, and Childress took the no. 3 match, 6-3, 6-4, over Deininger. Ruiz Burkart then won no. 4, 6-2 6-1, over Rompel and Alvarez took at 6-2, 6-0, win at no. 5. Sharafeldin shutout here oppoenent at no. 6, 6-0, 6-0.
 
ETBU travels to Arlington, TX, on Saturday for two matches vs. Texas Wesleyan and Dallas Baptist.
