A&T | Goff Breaks ETBU Aerial Pass Record in Tumbling Event; ETBU Posts Six 9.0s vs. UMHB

BELTON, Texas – Headed back to Central Texas and facing Mary Hardin-Baylor for a second time this season, East Texas Baptist University had a strong start but came up short of victory, 258.705-229.700. ETBU is now 2-3 on the year.
 
ETBU had six 9.0+ scores in the meet with three of them coming the Compulsory Event to start the meet. In the Acro heat they finished with a 9.0 followed by a 9.65 in the Pyramid Heat. The toss heat brought a 9.40 as they finished with an event total of 31.35 trailing UMHB, by just under six points.
 
The Acro Event had a fourth 9.0 score for ETBU. Kendall McAdoo, Mary Kalafatis, Jessica Kuhlmann, and Brianna Brown scored a 9.0 in the 7 Element heat. In the 5 Element, ETBU scored an 8.80 and hten had a 5.75 in the 6 Element for a score of 23.55.
 
Kennedy Brady, Brown, Kalafatis, Rebecca Kalafatis, Macie Goff, Katie Melton, Kaylee Morton, and Jaiden Stroman scored a 9.85 in the Pyramid event for the open (heat 3). That was the best score on the night for ETBU. In the Inversion, an 8.45 was scored and an 8.20 came in the synchronized.
 
At halftime, ETBU was trailing by 13 points, 94.70-81.40.
 
Scoring all 8.0+ in the Toss event, the 450 Salto had the top score of 8.50. ETBU then had an 8.25 in the synchronized and an 8.20 in the open for 24.95 points.
 
Goff broke the Aerial Pass record for ETBU in the Tumbling event with a 9.375 topping the 8.95 set in 2021 vs. UMHB. That was the highlight of the event as ETBU had four 7.0+ scores finishing with 43.95 points.
 
In the team event, ETBU scored 79.40 to finish with 229.700 points.
 
ETBU will have their last meet of the year next weekend in Florida at St. Leo University.
